I miss this time period in music so much. Every week there was another band, more CD singles to buy and videos to watch for. I loved Sleeper. There was something real sounding in their lyrics and music. Good memories!

This is a great track from their best (IMHO) album "The It Girl", which I think was one the best albums of the 90's and arguably the only top class album to come out of the mostly dismal Britpop scene. It's such an excellent album that I even bought it a second time when a 2-CD version came out (the second disc is pretty good too!).

Very The Clash beat wise with the stabby guitars. What a voice from the singer. Power and control, impressive.
Britpop seems to have got a bad name in recent years but that's really unfair; there were a lot of really good bands, certainly there were memorable songs and that's what matters. And yes Sleeper remain one of them.
21 when this came out...90s just seemed like one long night out... clubs all year then holidays to Newquay, Kavos and Magaluf etc etc... Now I am nearly 50 and have kids nearly that age... Damn it goes quick.

I think I do understand maybe why I didn't search them out, I love her voice, their sound, but what comes to mind is the energy in their name is completely whack, it's like what you call a film that puts you to sleep. So to have music that good, and then have such a disconnect in their name was a huge stumbling block that someone snoozed on, No Disrespect, but come on! But I fo love your music, just get a name that shares resonance with your actual sound as opposed to using something that creates discord, okay so enough critiquing shit, I apologize, just couldn't help myself!

Actually I was around 30 year's ago busy with SAIC, Sorry to smash yo Toes, Creatives naturally critique everything, especially anything that sticks out obtuse, see the name Sleeper easily calls to mind Woody Allen's old Sci-fi comedy, not a band like this!!!
Brings back Art School memories, but this band was one I reo hearing, but for some reason I didn't search them out like I had to search out Let's Active because of the way their song Our waters part , emotes, ...and that's exactly the kind of thing that makes me have to know who they are to see if any more of their music hits on that same way above avery level, but these guys definitely sound fresh!!!
